Delight in these playful Animal Cookie Rice Krispie Treats, a fun twist on the classic marshmallow and cereal dessert. Loaded with crunchy Mother’s circus animal cookies, colorful nonpareils, and drizzled with pink and white candy melts, these treats are perfect for parties or a sweet snack that will bring smiles to kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 10 oz. bag mini marshmallows
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 11 oz. bag of Mother’s circus animal cookies, chopped (about 2 cups)

Decorations & Topping

  • 3 tablespoons colored nonpareils (divided)
  • 1/2 cup pink candy melts
  • 1/2 cup white candy melts
  • Whole Mother’s circus animal cookies (for topping, about 1 cup)

Other

  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Two piping bags or plastic baggies

Instructions

  1. Heat Butter and Marshmallows: In a large microwave-safe container, combine 4 tablespoons of butter with a 10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows and microwave for 1 minute.
  2. Melt Marshmallow Mixture: Stir the butter and marshmallows mixture until fully melted and smooth. If necessary, continue heating in 15 to 30-second increments, stirring after each, until completely melted.
  3. Mix in Cereal and Cookies: Add 4 cups of Rice Krispies cereal, 1 tablespoon of colored nonpareils, and approximately 2 cups of chopped Mother’s circus animal cookies into the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  4. Press into Baking Dish: Spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray, then spread the mixture evenly into the dish. Allow it to cool and set completely, at least 30 minutes.
  5. Prepare Candy Melts: In two separate bowls, melt 1/2 cup of pink candy melts and 1/2 cup of white candy melts in the microwave, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring between each session until just melted and smooth.
  6. Pipe Candy Melts: Transfer the melted candy melts into piping bags or plastic Ziploc baggies. Cut a small hole in the tip or corner, then drizzle both colors over the cooled rice krispie treats.
  7. Decorate and Set: Immediately top the drizzled treats with whole Mother’s circus animal cookies and the remaining 2 tablespoons of colored nonpareils. Allow the candy melts to harden for about 15 minutes.
  8. Serve: Once the candy coating has set, cut the treats into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use a greased or non-stick sprayed dish to make removal easier.
  • For best results, chop the circus animal cookies into medium-sized pieces to maintain texture without overpowering the treats.
  • You can substitute candy melts with white chocolate chips and food coloring if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • If you want softer treats, reduce the cooling time slightly before cutting.
