Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Layer
- 1 box brownie mix (along with ingredients required to prepare the batter as per package directions)
Peanut Butter Layer
- 1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter
- ¾ cup butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Chocolate Ganache
- 1 package (10 oz) dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to ensure it’s ready for baking the brownies.
- Prepare baking dish: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, allowing enough overhang on the sides to easily lift the brownies out after baking.
- Make brownie batter and bake: Prepare the brownie batter according to the package instructions, then spread it evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake as directed on the box, usually about 30 minutes.
- Prepare peanut butter layer: While the brownies bake, combine the creamy peanut butter, melted butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat the mixture until smooth and well combined.
- Spread peanut butter layer: Once the brownies are baked, gently spread the peanut butter mixture over the hot brownies, ensuring an even layer.
- Make chocolate ganache: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and heavy whipping cream. Microwave on high for one minute, then stir until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Apply ganache and chill: Pour the warm chocolate ganache over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly. Refrigerate the brownies for 2 hours or until the ganache sets completely.
- Serve: Lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment overhang, cut into 9 squares, and serve.
Notes
- Allow the brownies to cool slightly before spreading the peanut butter layer to prevent it from melting completely.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean-up.
- For a firmer ganache, refrigerate longer if needed.
- You can use either dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips based on personal preference.
- If you don’t have heavy cream, full-fat coconut milk can be a substitute for ganache.
