Description

Butterfly Pancakes and Fruit Breakfast is a fun and visually delightful recipe perfect for a playful morning meal. It combines fluffy homemade or boxed pancakes arranged creatively with fresh fruit such as kiwi, strawberries, banana, and a raisin to resemble a butterfly. This breakfast is not only appetizing but also encourages fruit consumption in an engaging way for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Pancakes

  • 1 batch pancake batter (prepared from scratch or boxed mix)

Fruit Decoration

  • 1 kiwi
  • 5 strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 raisin

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pancake Batter: Mix your pancake recipe according to the directions provided on your boxed mix or your homemade pancake recipe.
  2. Cook the Pancakes: Heat a pan on low heat. Pour the batter to cook 2 regular-sized pancakes and 2 small pancakes, ensuring even cooking and a golden brown surface.
  3. Arrange Pancakes on Plate: Place the two large pancakes on a plate, then position the two small pancakes underneath them to form the butterfly wings structure.
  4. Prepare and Add Fruit Decorations: Peel the banana and position it vertically in the center of the pancakes to represent the butterfly’s body. Slice the strawberries and then halve the slices to create smaller pieces, arrange these pieces around the edges of the pancakes for wing decoration. Slice the kiwi and place the slices on top of the pancakes; add two strawberry slices as additional wing details.
  5. Add Final Butterfly Features: Cut a raisin in half and place these halves on the banana for eyes. Cut a small piece of strawberry for the mouth at the bottom of the banana. Lastly, take two strips from the kiwi peel and press them into the top of the banana to simulate the butterfly’s antennas.

Notes

  • Use fresh and ripe fruits for the best flavor and ease of cutting.
  • Adjust pancake sizes carefully to create a balanced butterfly shape.
  • Cook pancakes on low heat to avoid burning and to ensure they cook through evenly.
  • Feel free to customize the decoration with other fruits or edible toppings to make it your own.
