Description

Chili Cheese Toast is a delicious and spicy cheesy toast that makes for a perfect snack or appetizer. With a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, green chilies, and a hint of garlic, this toast is flavorful and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread:

  • 4 slices of thick-cut bread (such as sourdough or white sandwich bread)

Cheese Mixture:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 small green chili (finely chopped, or use 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: red chili powder or paprika for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, mix the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, green chili, green onions, garlic, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Assemble the Toasts: Lightly butter each slice of bread and place them on a baking sheet, buttered side down. Evenly distribute the cheese mixture over the top of each slice. Sprinkle with red chili powder or paprika if desired.
  4. Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  5. Serve: Serve hot as a delicious snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • You can use pre-shredded cheese for convenience, but freshly shredded cheese melts better.
  • Adjust the heat by using milder or spicier chilies.
  • Add cooked crumbled sausage or bacon for a meaty twist.
