Bread:
- 4 slices of thick-cut bread (such as sourdough or white sandwich bread)
Cheese Mixture:
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 small green chili (finely chopped, or use 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes)
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: red chili powder or paprika for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, mix the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, green chili, green onions, garlic, black pepper, and salt.
- Assemble the Toasts: Lightly butter each slice of bread and place them on a baking sheet, buttered side down. Evenly distribute the cheese mixture over the top of each slice. Sprinkle with red chili powder or paprika if desired.
- Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
- Serve: Serve hot as a delicious snack or appetizer.
Notes
- You can use pre-shredded cheese for convenience, but freshly shredded cheese melts better.
- Adjust the heat by using milder or spicier chilies.
