For the Bars:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Batter: Cream together butter and sugars, beat in eggs and vanilla. Whisk dry ingredients and gradually add to the wet mixture. Fold in chocolate chips, berries, and nuts.
  3. Bake: Spread batter in the dish and bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • If using frozen berries, do not thaw to avoid excess moisture.
  • White chocolate chips can be a sweeter alternative to semi-sweet.
