Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
Wet Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup sour cream
Cinnamon Crumble Topping
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Vanilla Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 teaspoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside to prepare for the batter.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and 3/4 cup sugar until well combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate large bowl, whisk the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and sour cream until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Mix Batter: Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined without overmixing to ensure a tender bread.
- Pour Batter into Pan: Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Prepare Cinnamon Crumble: In a small bowl, mix the 1/2 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and melted butter. Spoon this mixture evenly over the batter and use a knife to gently swirl it through the batter to create a cinnamon swirl effect.
- Bake: Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool Bread: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Then remove the bread from the pan to cool further.
- Prepare and Drizzle Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle this glaze evenly over the cooled bread before serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter as it can make the bread dense.
- You can adjust the amount of cinnamon in the crumble topping to your preference.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute milk and sour cream with plant-based alternatives.
- Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Reheat slices briefly in the microwave for a warm treat.
