Description

These Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms are a delightful appetizer combining juicy mushrooms with a creamy, flavorful crab filling. Baked to perfection with a golden, bubbly topping, they are perfect for parties or a special treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Mushroom Preparation

  • 16 large white button mushrooms, stems removed and finely chopped

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the stuffed mushrooms.
  2. Prepare Mushrooms: Clean the mushroom caps gently with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Finely chop the stems and set them aside for the filling.
  3. Cook Stems and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped mushroom stems and minced garlic, cooking them for about 3-4 minutes until they soften and release their flavors.
  4. Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked mushroom stems and garlic with softened cream cheese, lump crab meat, Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, chopped parsley, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir the mixture thoroughly until everything is well incorporated.
  5. Stuff Mushrooms: Using a spoon, fill each mushroom cap with the crab mixture, pressing gently to ensure the filling stays inside.
  6. Bake: Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. Bake them until the tops are golden brown and bubbly, indicating they are perfectly cooked.
  7. Serve: Remove the mushrooms from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Garnish with extra fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Be sure to pick through the crab meat carefully to remove any shells for a smooth texture.
  • If cream cheese is not softened, microwave it for 10-15 seconds to ease mixing.
  • Old Bay seasoning can be substituted with other seafood seasoning blends if unavailable.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling.
  • These stuffed mushrooms can be prepared in advance and baked just before serving.
