Pie:
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon bourbon (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Mix butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
- Add eggs and dry ingredients: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the flour, bourbon (if using), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Combine chocolate and nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
- Prepare the pie: Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust and smooth the top.
- Bake: Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool and serve: Let the pie cool completely before slicing. Serve plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Bourbon adds a classic Kentucky flavor, but you can leave it out or replace it with a splash of milk or coffee.
- You can use either walnuts or pecans depending on your preference.
