Filling
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping, thawed
Toppings
- Pastel-colored candy eggs
- Easter-themed gummies or bunny peeps (optional)
- Green-tinted shredded coconut (optional, for grass effect)
Instructions
- Crush Oreos: Crush the Golden Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor or place them in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin. Set aside.
- Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. Add powdered sugar and continue beating until fully combined and creamy.
- Prepare Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until it thickens.
- Combine Mixtures: Fold the thickened pudding gently into the cream cheese mixture, then gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until evenly blended.
- Assemble Layers: In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, layer half of the crushed Oreos evenly on the bottom. Spoon the pudding mixture over the cookie layer and spread evenly.
- Add Final Layer and Decorations: Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos over the pudding layer. Decorate the top with pastel candy eggs, bunny gummies, and optionally green-tinted shredded coconut to mimic grass.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled dirt cake for at least 2 hours to allow it to set properly before serving.
Notes
- For individual servings, layer the dessert in clear cups or jars for a charming presentation.
- Swap vanilla pudding for chocolate pudding to create a classic dirt cake look.
- To color shredded coconut green, add a few drops of green food coloring to the coconut in a sealed bag and shake well until coated.
