Description

This Easter Dirt Cake is a delightful no-bake dessert perfect for spring celebrations. Featuring layers of crushed Golden Oreos, creamy vanilla pudding, and whipped topping, it’s topped with festive candy eggs and optional green-tinted coconut ‘grass’ to mimic a garden bed. Easy to assemble and chill, it offers a fun and colorful treat that’s sure to please guests of all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust and Base

  • 1 package (14.3 ounces) Golden Oreos

Filling

  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping, thawed

Toppings

  • Pastel-colored candy eggs
  • Easter-themed gummies or bunny peeps (optional)
  • Green-tinted shredded coconut (optional, for grass effect)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Crush the Golden Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor or place them in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin. Set aside.
  2. Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. Add powdered sugar and continue beating until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Prepare Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until it thickens.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Fold the thickened pudding gently into the cream cheese mixture, then gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until evenly blended.
  5. Assemble Layers: In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, layer half of the crushed Oreos evenly on the bottom. Spoon the pudding mixture over the cookie layer and spread evenly.
  6. Add Final Layer and Decorations: Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos over the pudding layer. Decorate the top with pastel candy eggs, bunny gummies, and optionally green-tinted shredded coconut to mimic grass.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled dirt cake for at least 2 hours to allow it to set properly before serving.

Notes

  • For individual servings, layer the dessert in clear cups or jars for a charming presentation.
  • Swap vanilla pudding for chocolate pudding to create a classic dirt cake look.
  • To color shredded coconut green, add a few drops of green food coloring to the coconut in a sealed bag and shake well until coated.
