Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef stew meat
- 10.75 oz can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 0.88 oz packet brown gravy mix
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 small onion, diced (about 1/3 cup)
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 Tablespoon water (or 2 Tablespoons flour mixed with 1/4 cup water)
Optional
- Egg noodles or mashed potatoes, prepared for serving
Instructions
- Prepare Gravy Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, brown gravy mix, beef broth, diced onion, and minced garlic. Whisk the ingredients together until well combined; it is fine if the mixture is slightly lumpy as it will smooth out during cooking.
- Cook Beef: Place the beef stew meat into a 4-quart crockpot. Pour the prepared gravy mixture over the beef and gently stir to coat evenly. Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 7 hours until the beef is tender.
- Thicken Gravy: Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the crockpot using a slotted spoon and set aside. Stir the cornstarch and water mixture into the crockpot to thicken the gravy. Return the beef to the crockpot and continue cooking uncovered for an additional 5 minutes to allow the gravy to thicken.
- Serve: Serve the beef tips and gravy hot over prepared egg noodles or mashed potatoes for a delicious and comforting meal.
Notes
- You can substitute cornstarch with flour if preferred; mix 2 tablespoons flour with 1/4 cup water before adding to the gravy.
- Use a 4-quart crockpot for best results to ensure even cooking.
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy mixture.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
