Turkey:
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds, thawed if frozen)
Herb Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (chopped, or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage (chopped, or 1 teaspoon dried)
Stuffing:
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 head garlic, halved horizontally
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the Turkey: Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey cavity and pat dry.
- Make Herb Butter: Mix softened butter with seasonings and rub all over turkey.
- Stuff the Turkey: Fill the cavity with onion, lemon, and garlic.
- Roast the Turkey: Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, pour broth in the pan, tent with foil, and roast.
- Rest and Serve: Rest the turkey before carving and serving.
Notes
- For crispier skin, refrigerate the uncovered turkey overnight before roasting to dry the skin.
- You can add chopped carrots and celery to the roasting pan for more flavor.
