Description

Indulge in the savory goodness of Ground Beef French Dip Sandwiches! These easy-to-make sandwiches are loaded with flavorful ground beef, caramelized onions, and melted provolone cheese, all nestled in a soft hoagie roll and served with a side of rich au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Sandwiches:

  • 4 hoagie rolls or French rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

For the Au Jus:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions in olive oil until soft and caramelized. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet, cook until browned. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Au Jus: In a saucepan, combine beef broth, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, and rosemary. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Assemble the Sandwiches: Fill rolls with ground beef mixture and caramelized onions. Top with provolone cheese. Broil for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted.
  5. Serve: Serve hot sandwiches with warm au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can toast the rolls before filling for extra crunch.
  • Swap provolone for Swiss or mozzarella if desired.
  • Make the au jus ahead of time and reheat when serving.
