Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 16 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
To Serve
- Cocktail rye bread
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the assembled appetizer later on.
- Brown the meat: Heat a large pan over medium heat and cook the ground beef and ground sausage until fully browned and cooked through.
- Drain and return meat: Drain excess fat from the pan, then return the cooked meat back to the pan to continue the recipe.
- Add cheese and seasonings: Add the cubed Velveeta cheese, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, oregano, and Worcestershire sauce into the pan. Lower the heat to medium-low and stir continuously until the cheese melts completely and the mixture is uniform.
- Assemble on bread: Place about one tablespoon of the warm meat and cheese mixture onto each piece of cocktail rye bread and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake: Bake the assembled rye bread pieces in the preheated oven for about 6 minutes, or until the cheese topping starts bubbling and is hot throughout.
- Garnish and serve: Optionally sprinkle chopped parsley over the baked Hanky Panky for a fresh, colorful finish before serving.
Notes
- Use cocktail rye bread for authentic flavor and perfect bite-sized portions.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
- Make sure to stir the cheese mixture constantly on low heat to prevent scorching.
- Serve immediately after baking for the best gooey texture.
- Can be kept warm in the oven on low heat if preparing for a party.
