Description

This Hibiscus Tea Strawberry-Lemonade Refresher is a vibrant and refreshing beverage that combines the floral tang of hibiscus tea with the natural sweetness of strawberries and the zesty brightness of fresh lemon juice. Perfect for a warm day, this lightly sweetened drink offers a delightful balance of flavors, making it a revitalizing choice to cool you down and quench your thirst.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup dried hibiscus petals

Sweeteners & Flavorings

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Fruits

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup strawberry puree

Other

  • 1 cup cold water
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Boil Water with Hibiscus Petals: In a medium-sized saucepan, pour the 2 cups of water and add the 1 cup of dried hibiscus petals.
  2. Simmer Hibiscus Tea: Place the saucepan over medium heat on the stove and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to help the petals steep. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Steep and Strain: Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture steep for an additional 5 minutes. Then, strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer into a heatproof bowl or pitcher, discarding the hibiscus petals.
  4. Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still hot, add 1/4 cup sugar and stir until dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
  5. Mix Fruits and Honey: Once cooled, add 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup strawberry puree, and 1 tablespoon honey to the tea. Stir well to combine and ensure the honey dissolves completely.
  6. Dilute and Serve: In a separate large glass, combine 1 cup cold water. Pour the hibiscus-strawberry-lemonade mixture into the glass and stir thoroughly. Fill a serving glass with ice cubes and pour the chilled refresher over the ice. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar and honey to your taste.
  • For best results, use fresh lemon juice and ripe strawberries for the puree.
  • You can prepare the hibiscus tea base ahead of time and refrigerate it before mixing.
  • This drink is best served chilled for maximum refreshment.
  • Strain the strawberry puree if you prefer a smoother texture.
