Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 2 lbs. ground beef
Chili Sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 8 oz. tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup white onion (finely minced)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. brown sugar
Instructions
- Brown the beef: Over medium-high heat in a large pot, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart into small crumbles. Once fully cooked, drain the excess fat and return the beef to the pot.
- Add ingredients: Add the ketchup, tomato sauce, water, minced onion, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, ground mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Simmer the chili: Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer gently for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the chili thickens too much, add a bit more water or ketchup to reach your desired consistency.
- Serve: Spoon the warm chili generously over cooked hot dogs and enjoy.
Notes
- For a spicier chili, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to taste.
- Make sure to crumble the beef finely for the best texture.
- This chili can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
- Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content if desired.
- Adjust seasoning according to your preference before serving.
