Description

These Hot Honey Chicken Wings are crispy baked wings coated in a sweet and spicy homemade hot honey sauce. Perfectly seasoned and oven-baked for a deliciously caramelized finish, they make a great crowd-pleaser appetizer or snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wing portions
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Hot Honey Sauce

  • â…“ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Frank’s RedHot Original Sauce
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (plus more for serving)
  • 1 garlic clove (finely minced)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For Garnish (Optional)

  • Chopped green onions
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  2. Season Chicken: Place the chicken wing portions in a large bowl. In a small bowl, whisk together paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cornstarch. Sprinkle this seasoning mix over the wings and toss well until every wing is evenly coated.
  3. Bake Wings: Arrange the wings skin-side up on the wire rack atop the baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking to achieve crispy skin all around.
  4. Prepare Hot Honey Sauce: While the wings bake, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add honey, Frank’s RedHot sauce, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, and salt. Whisk the mixture until well combined and let it simmer gently over medium-low heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Toss Wings in Sauce: Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a bowl and toss with ¼ cup of the prepared hot honey sauce. Return the coated wings to the oven for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize on the wings. For extra crispiness, broil them for 3 to 5 minutes more, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  6. Serve: Drizzle remaining hot honey sauce over the wings. Transfer wings to a serving platter and garnish with chopped green onions, additional red pepper flakes, and toasted sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level to your preference.
  • For extra crispy skin, make sure to pat wings dry before seasoning and baking.
  • Leftover sauce can be stored in the refrigerator and used as a dip or glaze for other dishes.
  • Using a wire rack helps air circulate around the wings for better crisping.
  • If preferred, you can substitute Frank’s RedHot with another similar hot sauce.
