Ingredients
Scale
Garlic Butter
- 100 g / 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 garlic cloves, minced (~ 3 tsp)
Main
- 1 bread loaf approx 30cm/12″ long
- 2 – 2.5 cups (200 – 250g) mozzarella cheese, grated
- Parsley, for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F) to prepare for baking the garlic bread.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: In a bowl, mix the unsalted butter with the minced garlic and salt until well combined, creating a flavorful garlic butter spread.
- Slice Bread: Cut the bread loaf horizontally into two equal halves to create a top and bottom layer for the garlic butter application.
- Apply Garlic Butter: Generously drizzle and spread the garlic butter all over the cut sides of the bread halves, ensuring full coverage without missing any spots.
- Bake Bread: Place the bread halves on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until the bread edges are crispy and golden.
- Add Cheese and Increase Heat: Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (390°F). Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the garlic-buttered bread halves.
- Melt Cheese: Bake for an additional 7 to 10 minutes until the cheese is thoroughly melted and bubbly with a slight golden brown color.
- Garnish and Serve: Optionally sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a fresh touch. Cut the cheesy garlic bread into 8 pieces and serve immediately as a delicious side for meals or perfect for dipping into soups and stews.
Notes
- Note 1: Use a fresh, crusty bread loaf approximately 30cm (12 inches) long for the best texture and size.
- Note 2: Mozzarella cheese can be substituted with any other melting cheese like cheddar or a blend for different flavors.
- Optional parsley adds a fresh color and subtle herbal flavor but can be omitted.
- Ensure the garlic butter is spread evenly for consistent flavor in every bite.
- Adjust baking times slightly based on your oven’s specifics and bread thickness.
